The effect of interspecific and intraspecific hybridization on seed germination of Pitaya (Hylocereus spp.)

Objective: In this study, the effect of interspecific and intraspecific hybridization on seed germination pitaya was investigated. Material Methods: Self-infertile 'Bloody Mary' (Hylocereus polyrhizus) used as maternal parent 'Cosmic Charlie' undatus), 'Red Jaina' 'White undatus) were pollinators in study. Flowers pollinated at three different times (10: 00 pm, 00: am, 06.00 am). After pollination, seeds from each pollination combination sown. The rate, average time, energy index sown determined depending time pollinator cultivars. Results: research findings indicated that rate 100% all sowing combinations, cultivars ('Cosmic are species parent) times. results revealed did not have a negative germination. On other hand, differed per type hours. Conclusion: According to findings, it concluded does problem might offer an infrastructure for future breeding programme pitaya.
